A family home in the heart of South London, this masterful restoration project is defined by striking interiors, thoughtful details and an abundance of natural light.

Our creative client came to us with a vision to completely transform their outdated home — a vision that began with stripping away the existing aluminium windows and replacing them with beautifully crafted timber sashes.

Across this two-storey home, the new windows bring a sense of symmetry and character to every room. A sizeable bay window welcomes you on the groud floor and creates a striking focal point, perfectly aligned with the two sash windows above, flooding the new bedroom with natural light.

In the bathroom, a small but beautifully considered reeded-glass sash window allows light to pour in while maintaining much-needed privacy. Finally, a generous sash window in the office draws the garden into this warm, inviting workspace — now thoughtfully redesigned as a multifunctional room complete with a daybed.

The result is a home that feels both timeless and entirely its own, with beautifully proportioned windows playing a key role in bringing the client’s vision to life.

Original architaves and window cill are reinstated with new timber, factory sprayed with specially mixed sikkens paint — hard wearing, non-toxic and easy to clean, making it perfect for a colourful family home full of life.

The original alluminium windows are carefully removed as to preserve the integrity of the walls and detailing on the exterior brickwork.

After careful removal, the boxes are finally ready to be installed. Insulated and secured by foam and carefully placed fixings, hidden by the encased sashes.

Perfectly proportioned and highly functional, these new sashes replace the original top-hung casements. Now sound- and draught-insulated, they create a quiet, comfortable bedroom retreat, offering the perfect separation from the street outside.

The perfect fit starts at the survey stage, measuring carefully ensures that the box sits proportionately on the inside and outside facing.

Once the architraves and bullnose window cills are installed, the space really begins to come together. The ornate trims frame the windows beautifully, tying them into the existing mouldings and additional furnishings throughout the house.

Ironmongery adds the final touch to any window. Sash locks ensure safety whilst sush pulls and lifters accomodate functionality and ease.

Now in the final stages of decorating, the windows have been beautifully dressed by the client. Sitting effortlessly alongside a considered marriage of antique and contemporary interiors, these sash windows fit timelessly in this home.
