The Davidson
Completed: December 2025
Working closely with home owner and designer Grace Davidson, Beechhall has helped bring her charming modern heritage vision to life. Replacing all the original single glazed victorian windows with close replicas, adjustment were made to allow the maximum amount of light while ensuring security, weather proofing and sound proofing – all necessary for living in a busy London neighbourhood.
Through modern techniques, machinery and materials, like our premium Accoya timber, we guarantee the maximum longevity of your timber sash windows and doors.
Respecting the character of this early 1860’s townhouse and through conversation with Grace, we were able to look at some of her design influences and make technical drawings of her windows and doors. This allowed her full approval of the designs and the opportunity to make any modifications needed.
Opting for split colour, the inside of the windows and decorative architrave was finished in Dimity (Farrow & Ball #2008) to match the walls, complete with polished brass hardware from From the Anvil. The white exterior of the windows contrasts with the newly renovated brickwork for a refined look.
One of the benefits of matching your windows to your walls is creating the illusion of a larger space, it also allows for a blank slate that accommodates any style from eccentric and maximalist to traditional and austere.
With this in mind, a bold and adventurous colour was chosen for the understated single panel Victorian front door and garden gate, both finished in Brinjal (Farrow & Ball #222) and paired seamlessly with bronze Banham locks and ironmongery.
